AI Tools for Tradies: What's Worth Paying For in 2026

There's an AI tool for every job in your business now, and most of them want a monthly fee. Some pay for themselves in a week. Others are a nice-to-have you'll forget you're paying for. Here's our straight take on the four kinds of AI that matter most for tradies, what they cost, and whether they're worth your money.
Prices are from vendor sites as checked in October 2026 and listed in our guides. They change, so confirm with the vendor, including whether GST is extra. Listings are not endorsements.

1. AI receptionist and call answering
What it does: Answers your phone when you're up a ladder or under a house, works out what the caller needs, takes the details and can book the job or text you a summary.
Rough price: Published plans we've seen sit around A$49 to A$99 a month. Johnni listed from A$49/month + GST and Chime Labs from A$99/month + GST at our earlier check. Sophiie and AiDial didn't publish prices on the pages we checked. Watch for call limits and per-minute charges.
Who it suits: Sole traders and small crews who miss calls during the day. If one missed call is a lost $500 job, the maths is easy.
Verdict: Worth paying for if you're missing calls. It's the fastest payback on this list.

2. AI quoting and estimating
What it does: Turns a voice note, photos or a quick description into an itemised quote with GST, so it's done before you're back in the ute.
Rough price: QuickPrice has a free plan (3 AI quotes per 30 days), then A$14.99 to A$59.99 a month. Insta Quotes runs A$29 to A$99 a month. Sammy AI and QuoteKit: check current pricing.
Who it suits: Tradies who quote several jobs a week and lose evenings to paperwork. Always check the numbers before you send.
Verdict: Worth it if you quote a lot. Start on a free plan or trial and see if it saves you real hours.

3. AI scheduling and job management
What it does: Job apps like ServiceM8, Tradify, Fergus and Simpro handle jobs, scheduling, invoicing and timesheets, and have added AI for things like writing job notes, summaries and follow-ups.
Rough price: ServiceM8 has a free plan (1 user, 30 jobs a month) and paid plans from $29 to $149 a month by job volume. For Tradify, Fergus and Simpro, check current pricing on their sites.
Who it suits: Anyone still running jobs off a whiteboard, texts and a diary. Crews of two or more get the most out of it.
Verdict: Worth paying for, but buy it for the job management. The AI is a bonus, not the reason.

4. AI marketing and reviews
What it does: Sends review requests after a job, drafts replies to Google reviews and chases new enquiries fast. Podium is the big name. hipages isn't AI, but it's where plenty of Aussie tradies get leads.
Rough price: Check current pricing. Neither published prices on the pages we checked.
Who it suits: Busier businesses that want more Google reviews and have the work to back them up.
Verdict: Hold off on paying extra. Your job app or AI receptionist may already send review requests, so use that first.
Full guide: More leads and reviews, minus the marketing degree.
